From 12 May to 5 June, the Triennale in Milan hosted the exhibition “A Tribute to Domus Mille”, that sees sixteen prestigious design manufacturers paid homage to Domus, each with a special edition in Rose Quartz and Serenity – PANTONE® Colours of the Year 2016 – of an object that has signified an important passage in the evolutionary journey of these brands in the world of research and design. A demonstration of their meticulous and innovative work on the scale of both mass-production and limited-editions, that pays great attention to materials and production-processes, technologies and new forms of use.
A project by Domus created with the collaboration of Fabrica, responsible for the design of the installation. A three-dimensional journey has brought visitors intimate knowledge of the iconic objects selected from the collections of prestigious companies who have embraced the initiative: Agape, Alessi, Arper, Artemide, B&B Italia, Danese, Fabrica, Fiam, Fontana Arte, Fratelli Guzzini, Kartell, Marazzi, Rimadesio, Smeg, Tubes, Unifor.
During Design Week, from 12 to 17 April, the exhibition “A Tribute to Domus” featured in the ten shop windows of the UCB flagship store in Piazza del Duomo, also designed by Fabrica, Benetton’s centre for communications research.
The event also saw the participation of Citroën as special guest: for the car manufacturer, architect Mario Bellini has come up with the Cactus Chair, a new chair made from 3D-printed plastic inspired by the design of Citroën C4 Cactus and its Airbump®, reinterpreting an iconic element of the famous car.
